River Moy
The river Moy is probably the last of the great salmon rivers in Europe. Here the visiting angler can expect good fishing at reasonable rates. Foxford is and always has been at the heart of the river. The angler can try his hand in any of the many fisheries in the locality at rates starting for as little as£10 a day. He /She is assured of a warm welcome from Tiernan Bros and from local clubs and fisheries. The season opens on Feb 1st and closes on the last day of Sept. The countryside is unspoiled and largely uncommercialised and the angler can sample an area of Ireland that has changed little for many years. It's people are hospitable and friendly and still have time to talk to the many visitors that come from all over.

For spinning a rod of 9'--11' is recommended. For fly fishing a doublehanded 12'--15' or a singlehanded 11'6" will suit all occasions. For bait11' or 12' is ideal. (most anglers use the same rod for both spinning and bait fishing) It is advisable to seek local knowledge for baits,flies etc.all available at Tiernan Brothers.
